Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:
1. Analyze western cultures and historic periods.
A. Historical rulers who have influenced fashion.
B. Major fashion contributions for men and women.
C. Ways in which styles of each time may be incorporated into modern-day dress.
2. Compare and contrast various periods of historic dress regarding use of silhouette, color, fabric, role of women and men and, finally, as a means for class distinction.
3. Analyze how dress affects various aspects of our lives including success, happiness, status, comfort, and freedom.
4. Analyze present-day fashions in terms of how they draw from historic ideas.

5. Fashion trends today and their historic influences
