This course is an exploration of gender and sexual identity in U.S culture, and includes gender and sexual discrimination and harassment. The relationship between gender and sex and other aspects of our personal and social identities, such as race/ethnicity, age, physical disabilities will be examined. Cross-cultural comparisons of non-Western societies' views of sex and gender identities will be explored.

1. Distinguish between the three aspects of human sexuality and relate them to personal identity and societal norms.
2. Explain the issues related to sexual and gender inequality as they affect both men and women including sexism and male privilege, and homophobia and heterosexual privilege.
3. Compare US gender norms and identity with those of non-Western socieites.
4. Define sexual discrimination and identify illegal behavior pertaining to sexual harassment.
