COURSE CONTENT

Student Learning Outcomes:
At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

1. Describe and demonstrate roofing principles and regulations related to the roofing trade.  

2. Apply best practices in practical environment related to the roofers' trade.

 

Objectives:

At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

1. Interpret the symbols and conventions on a roofing blueprint.

2. List the specifications for a roofing job from a blueprint.

3. List the materials for a roofing job.

4. Estimate material and labor cost for a roofing job.

I. Regulations Governing the Roofing/Waterproofing Industry

II. Blueprints

    A. Specifications

    B. Math for the roofer/waterproofer

    C. Determining the number of squares

Assignments:

1. Homework assignments (1 to 2 sets per week)

2. Quizzes and examinations (4 to 6 per semester)

3. Class performances and field work (on-the-job demonstrations) of skill development, safety

    practices, equipment, and material handling.
