COURSE CONTENT

Student Learning Outcomes:
At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

1. Discuss recent American Heart Association (AHA) Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) updates.

2. Apply  knowledge and demonstrate  skills required by AHA to retain PALS certification.

 

Objectives:

At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

1. Discuss American Heart Association guidelines and current updates for continued certification.

2. Identify symptoms of respiratory failure and shock in the infant and child.

3. Identify and demonstrate relevant pharmacology principles for pediatric resuscitation.

4. Discuss specific resuscitative issues as they relate to the neonate.

5. Identify and demonstrate techniques to establish venous access of pediatric patient in cardiopulmonary arrest.

6. Identify common cardiac dysrhythmias and electrical intervention.

7. Discuss pediatric trauma incidents and management.
