1.  Demonstrate increased skill and knowledge in locating, analyzing, and synthesizing research
    that is specific to the subject area and/or courses for which students sought assistance.

At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:
1. Develop confidence with the recursive and exploratory process of academic research
    contextualized to the learning objectives and assignments of the referring course(s).
2. Incorporate scholarly research practices obtained through individualized library instruction to
    identify and critically analyze multiple diverse sources of information.
3. Select, synthesize, and integrate research materials into assignments with understanding of the
    ethical implications of source attribution to avoid plagiarism.

Topics and Scope

I. Topics will include and relate to referring course content from across the curriculum as
    appropriate to student needs.
II. Students will receive specific instruction on use of complex academic library research
    databases and information discovery systems including interpretation and
    management of search results.
III. The contextualized instruction session will cover scholarly research practices of inquiry,
    search techniques, critical analysis of relevance and authority, managing sources and
    discipline specific documentation style.
IV. Strategies will include increasing familiarity with a research topic, and distinguishing
    between factual, interpretive, popular, scholarly primary, secondary, evidence-based
    and other information types.
