Student Learning Outcomes:
At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

1. Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to demonstrate improved instrumental performance skills while fulfilling the responsibilities of a musician in the preparation, rehearsal, and performance of an instrumental part within the music ensemble for a musical theatre production performed before a public audience.
 

Objectives: Untitled document
In order to achieve these learning outcomes, during the course the student will:
1. Perform with intermediate proficiency the responsibilities of a musician while participating in the rehearsal and performance process of a different musical score.
2. Identify and interpret the style of various musical scores and styles.
3. Record and retain with intermediate proficiency the interpretive and technical adjustments given by a various  musical director and/or conductor.
4. Apply musical choices with intermediate proficiency as instructed by the musical director and/or conductor during the rehearsal and performance process.
5. Work musically with intermediate proficiency within the ensemble.
6. Transition from the rehearsal hall to the stage environment, adapting with intermediate proficiency to the addition of performers, design elements, and technical procedures.
7. Work cooperatively within a high stress environment to produce a collaborative work of art.
8. Adapt to the stimulation and input of live audiences while maintaining intermediate proficiency of focus and concentration.
9. Reproduce with intermediate proficiency a successful instrumental performance in multiple performances presented over a period of time.

Assignments:

1.  Practice and rehearse instrumental material in a timely manner as
     required by the production schedule:
        a.  Independently review instrumental part, revising as instructed
             during the practice and rehearsal process.
        b.  Accurately learn instrumental music part and cues by the scheduled
             deadline.
        c.  Familiarize self with other elements of the musical
              that are integrated with the songs (dancing, acting, etc.).
 
2.  Attend all scheduled instrumental rehearsals, production rehearsals,
    and performances for which the musician is called.  Communicate
    potential schedule conflicts to the instructor prior to final
    audition.  Conflicts communicated after rehearsals have begun may be
    refused by the musical director or may result in removal from the
    production ensemble.
 
3.  Adhere to the standards of professionalism:
        a.  Arrive promptly and prepared for all music rehearsals, warm-ups,
             and performances.
        b.  Maintain collegiality  when interacting with
              other members of the production company - fellow musicians,
              directors, conductor, performers, technicians, etc.
        c.  Respectfully follow the musical director's and conductor's
              instructions, maintaining that direction in performance.
        d.  Perform assigned instrumental part in a conscientious and
              dedicated manner.
        e.  Strive to maintain good health and safety practices throughout the
              rehearsal and performance process.
