Outcomes and Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Identify and describe how the properties of the oral cavity relate to dental material selection.
2. Identify the uses, indications and contraindications of cements in dentistry for medications,
    bases, luting agents, restorative agents and build-ups.
3. Explain the advantages and disadvantages of esthetic restorative materials as compared to
    amalgam restorations.
4. Demonstrate the technique of assembly and assisting during the placement and removal of
    dental dam and other isolation devices and matrix for restoration on a mannequin.
5. Compare the composition, properties, indications and contra-indications of amalgam,
    composite sealants, and cast restorations in dentistry.
6. Demonstrate assisting during the preparation, placement, and finishing of amalgam, composite
    and cast restoration and discuss the safety precautions.
7. Describe the requirements for the dental impression material for final impressions.
8. Demonstrate assisting during the initial, try-in and delivery appointment as well as home care
    responsibilities.
9. Describe the characteristics of professional behavior.
