1. Upon completion of this course the student will identify changes and updates that apply to maintaining California certification as an Emergency Medical Technician.

Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:
1.  Identify any change in the state Emergency Medical Technician
(EMT) regulations.
2.  Demonstrate the ability to complete a patient assessment.
3.  Review treatment and demonstrate proficiency in the care of:
      a. trauma emergencies
      b. cardiac and respiratory emergencies
      c. emergency childbirth
      d. pediatric emergencies
      e. musculo-skeletal emergencies
      f. neurological emergencies
      g. environmental emergencies
4.  Identify principles of triage and demonstrate management skills
   necessary during a mass casualty incident.
5.  Demonstrate proficiency at cardiopulmonary resuscitation according
   to the American Heart Association guidelines.
6.  Identify and list communicable diseases that are of concern to the
   pre-hospital workers.
7.  Define Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and cite impact to emergency
   medical care personnel.
8.  Demonstrate basic airway management skills.
9.  Review EMT skills as described by National Registry.
