At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. Describe academic prerequisites common to the Health Sciences programs offered at SRJC.
2. Describe personal characteristics and abilities desirable for careers in health occupations.
3. Compare and contrast the health occupation programs offered at SRJC.
4. Describe the legal roles and responsibilities and give examples of confidentiality issues for health care workers.
5. List the licensing/certification requirements necessary for employment in various health occupations.
6. Discuss the career ladder process as it applies to various Health Sciences programs at SRJC.
7. Describe the lateral and vertical career mobility in a specific health occupation.
8. Demonstrate communication skills with clients, doctors and staff and describe the use of computer technology in the different health occupations.
9. Collect resources for building a resume.

2. Complete short research paper (3-4 typewritten pages) comparing requirements for two health occupations, current medical trends and student qualifications and needs.
3. Participate weekly in chat room round-robin discussions.
4. Complete 3-5 quizzes and final exam.
