COURSE CONTENT

Outcomes and Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

Students will be able to:

1. Identify the areas of the head and neck region of the human.

2. Describe the normal development of the structures of the head and neck.

3. Recognize developmental abnormalities, such as cleft lip and cleft palate.

4. Recognize the anatomical landmarks used in the administration of local anesthesia.

5. Describe the process of embryological development of the head and neck region of the oral cavity.

6. Explain the structural relationships of the oral cavity and how they function in a healthy state of dynamic equilibrium.

7. Identify normal histological structures of the head and neck, including the oral cavity.

8. Describe the anatomical features of the head and neck.

9. Apply knowledge of head and neck structures to extraoral and intraoral examination and administration of local anesthetics in clinical hygiene courses.
