COURSE CONTENT

Outcomes and Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

1.  Student will learn how to successfully expose color photographic
   materials under varied conditions, while at the same time giving
   consideration to picture content, aesthetics and compositional
   concerns.
2.  Students will gain an understanding of the basic theories of color
   photography, including both the additive and subtractive color
   processes.
3.  Working in the laboratory, students will learn the procedures for
   developing transparency type color film.
4.  After observing demonstrations, individuals will develop the skills
   necessary for making color prints from both color negative and
   transparency material. Knowledge gained will include the use of
   color filtration in the enlarger, the use of the color analyst and
   the ability to judge completed color prints as to their tonality
   color value.

Topics and Scope

1.  Color printing from negatives, including uses of the color analyst,
   color enlarger and related equipment.
2.  Field work, including proper exposure of color negative material.

Assignments:

1.  Weekly or bi-weekly assignments will include the exposing of color
   film materials, both transparency and negative types, of specified
   subjects or situations. Transparencies will be viewed and critiqued
   in class. Color negatives will be the basis for prints made by
   individual students during laboratory sessions.
