The Advanced Dance Ensemble is designed to provide the student with practical performing and possibly teaching experience.  The students will develop their own choreography and perform both student and instructor compositions in a variety of venues within the college and community setting.

Prerequisites/Corequisites:
Course Completion of DANCE 11.3 ( or PE 27.2 or PE 146.2) OR Course Completion of DANCE 16.3 ( or PE 28.2 or PE 147.2) OR Course Completion of DANCE 13.3 ( or PE 30.2 or PE 149.2)

Course Completion or Concurrent Enrollment in DANCE 3.1 ( or PE 25.1 or PE 25 or PE 144)

Outcomes and Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

At the end of the semester the student will be able to:
1.      Develop and demonstrate the knowledge and skills needed to help in
       the planning of dance performances.
2.      Develop and demonstrate intermediate skills for modern, jazz and/o
r
       ballet dance forms.
3.      Develop and demonstrate the performing skills of projection and
       movement quality.
4.      Apply composition theories to the dance pieces within the program.
5.      Gain experience performing in a variety of settings.

Topics and Scope

I.  Utilization of dance skills taught in Int. Dance technique classes
   with direct application to dance performances.
   A.  Choreographic process including - clarity of thematic material,
         choreographic structure and movement invention.
   B.  Performance process including - focus, physical clarity,
         projection and adapting to differing performance situations.
   C.  Rehearsals - setting and meeting rehearsal goals.
   D.  Production process including - costume design, musical
         accompaniments, negotiating and logistics of performance venues.

performances, organization of rehearsal time and space, costume design,
travel plans, choreography studies, and/or evaluation of performances.
