COURSE CONTENT

Student Learning Outcomes:
At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

1. Demonstrate intermediate garment construction skills.

2. Identify and discuss the main steps of the apparel production process.

 

Objectives:

At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

 

1. Operate a computerized sewing machine, a serger, a cover stitch machine, and an industrial

    straight stitch machine.

2. Demonstrate methods for handling a variety of specialty fabrics.

3. Apply pattern alterations to achieve desired fit and design.

4. Explain the process of apparel production in the fashion industry.

5. Utilize intermediate to advanced sewing techniques in garment construction.

6. Complete samples and garments containing bound buttonholes, welt pockets, waistbands, fly zippers, linings, invisible

    zippers, collars, plackets, and facings.
