At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

1.  Identify and be able to use florist tools.
2.  Identify and know proper use of florist ribbon and wire.
3.  Understand the mechanics of floral arrangements.
4.  Be able to design the following style arrangements:
   a.  bud vase
   b.  basic round
   c.  mixed round
   d.  basic carnation corsage and bout
   e.  raised center round
   f.  basic 12 carnation triangular arrangement
   g.  mixed triangular arrangement
   h.  small basket arrangement
   i.  basic centerpiece
   j.  mixed centerpiece with candles
   k.  mini carnation bout and corsage
   l.  dozen baby rose arrangement
   m.  proper care and handling of flowers and greens

Assignments:

1.  Use florist tools properly.
2.  Make at least 2 bows in class and adequately wrap wire.
   Homework:  make 2 bows at home.
3.  Make a single carnation bout and corsage
4.  Demonstrate proper care and handling of flowers.
5.  Make 2 bud vases:  1-2carnations, greens, filler material and bow
                      2-mixed flowers, greens and filler material
6.  Cut and fit foam to container; make a basic round arrangement.
7.  Identify basic floral materials; make a mixed round arrangement.
8.  Mid-term, bring to class a mixed round arrangement; made at home
   with materials proquired by student.  Written exam.
9.  Understand principles of design.  Make a round arrangement with
   raised center.
10. Field trip to flower supplier.
11. Use color wheel.  Design a basic 12 carnation triangular arrangement.
12. Design a mixed flower triangular arrangement.
13. Discuss final project; get ideas developed for project.  Design a
   simple arrangement in a basket with a handle.
14. Design a basic centerpiece.
15. Show how to use candles and other items in an arrangement.  Make a
   mixed flower centerpiece with 2 candles.
16. Design a mini carnation corsage and bout.  Demonstrate proper way
   to wear these pieces.
17. Make baby rose arrangement.
18. Final project; do at home, bring to class to assemble.  Must have a
   theme and be a scene using a floral arrangement.  Written final .
