Outcomes and Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
1. Identify and describe cultural practices for medicinal plants.
2. Plan a planting and harvest schedule.
3. Identify characteristics of significant herb crop types and plant
families.
4. Identify the importance of marketing the crop and list the options
available locally and regionally.
5. Explain the medicinal uses of medicinal plants.
6. Discuss the anti-bacterial qualities of herbs and list the herbs in
accordance with their greatest anti-bacterial benefits.
7. Demonstrate the use of soap making plants.
8. Evaluate properties of herbs and determine which plants encourage
beneficial insects in the garden.
9. List the poisonous herbs according to their toxicity.
10. Create simple formulas of herbs that can be infused for distinctive
benefits.

medicinal plant.
2. Discuss research in small group format and present orally to class.
3. Write a minimum 3-page report on a selected medicinal herb, focusing on
cultural practices and medicinal values.
4. Combine acid & basics substances with herbs to create soap products.
5. Complete toxicity worksheet.
6. Research and select dried herbs for the production of herbal teas.
7. Produce and package herbal teas.
8. Design an herb garden that encourages beneficial insects.
