At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

Upon completion of this course, art history students will be able to:
1. Perform critical aesthetic analysis of work(s) of art using specialized vocabulary.
Demonstrate research skills in the preparation of a written project setting the work(s) into
historical, religious, or stylistic context.

Since the purpose of the course is to afford the student an opportunity to engage in intensive study of a particular topic not covered in depth in other Art or Art History courses, the objectives will vary according to the project proposal.

As this is an independent project or paper, contents would vary with the student, but generally would capitalize on a student's special interest and abilities.

The successful completion of the project outlined in detail in the Art 49 proposal at the onset of the semester, and agreed to in advance by the instructor and the Art Department.
