1. Develop the skills necessary to perform basic infection control procedures and properly use
personal protection equipment.
2. Identify and perform the basic chairside skills.
Objectives:

1. Identify the components of the dental operatory and position operator, assistant, and patient
chair.
2. Identify and explain function of various types of dental sterilizers.
3. Identify the basic dental instrumentation set-up.
4. Follow OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) infection control protocol in
preparing instruments for sterilization.
5. Utilize OSHA recommended Personal Protective Equipment when handling contaminated
dental instruments and/or equipment.
6. Identify the six Black's Classifications of Cavity Preparations.
7. Position the oral evacuator in each quadrant of the arch.
8. Identify the types, indications, and placement of barriers.
