2. Utilize curricular tools and communication techniques that will
provide guidance and support to children and families experiencing
stress.
3. Assist parents and/or co-workers in the management of sensitive issues
at home and at school.
4. Identify current literature and resources on sensitive issues.

Assignments may include but are not limited to:
1. Reading and discussion of assigned text and handouts; approximately 30
pages per week.
2. Weekly Journals and response papers, approximately 1 page in length
that demonstrate reflective and critical thinking on selected
sensitive topics.
3. Team project requiring research and in-class presentation and
demonstration of communication skills; elements will include
definition of issues related to the selected topic as well as
appropriate strategies for providing support to children and families.
