At completion of this course student will be able to:
1. Demonstrate verbal and written communication skills with patients, families, and members of health care team
2. Demonstrate ability to perform a thorough patient assessment on an adult or pediatric patient with a medical complaint or traumatic injury
3. Integrate clinical findings to determine a treatment plan for the adult or pediatric patient with a medical complaint or traumatic injury
4. Demonstrate affective behaviors expected of a professional paramedic
5. Demonstrate all methods of delivering oxygen therapy
6. Demonstrate the ability to establish venous access
7. Calculate drug doses and drip rates
8. Demonstrate proper technique in giving an intravenous, intraosseous, intramuscular, subcutaneous, and oral medication
9. Demonstrate basic and advanced airway management techniques
10. Demonstrate skills necessary to splint/immobilize all types of soft tissue and musculoskeletal injuries
11. Assist in the management of a patient with a severe traumatic injury
12. Recognize normal and abnormal cardiac rhythms
13. Administer appropriate medication to treat abnormal cardiac rhythms
14. Demonstrate assessment and management of a patient with a cardiovascular emergency
15. Demonstrate assessment and management of a patient with a respiratory emergency
16. Demonstrate assessment and management of a patient with an identified medical emergency of the endocrine, nervous, gastrointestinal, genitourinary (GI/GU) and reproductive systems
17. Demonstrate assessment and management of a patient under the influence of alcohol or other chemical substance
18. Demonstrate proper technique of handling infectious disease issues
19. Assist in a normal labor and delivery
20. Discuss complications of an obstetrical patient
21. Demonstrate assessment and treatment of a neonate
22.Demonstrate management of a patient exhibiting a behavioral emergency
