Synthesis and application of knowledge and skills acquired in paramedic didactic (EMC 130A,B,C,D) in a clinical setting to include, but not limited to the Emergency Department and various specialty units. This course meets standards mandated by the California Health and Safety Code, Title 22 and the National Emergency Services Education Standards (NEMSES) published by the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT).
Prerequisites/Corequisites:
Concurrent Enrollment in EMC 130A, B, C, D (Students must successfully complete each prior course in the sequence to avoid having to repeat the entire sequence.)

At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

At completion of this course student will be able to:
1. Demonstrate verbal and written communication skills with patients, families, and members of the health care team.
2. Demonstrate ability to perform a thorough patient assessment on an adult or pediatric patient with a medical complaint or traumatic injury.
3. Demonstrate affective behaviors expected of a professional paramedic.
4. Demonstrate all methods of delivering oxygen therapy.
5. Demonstrate the ability to establish venous access.
6. Demonstrate proper techniques in giving medication via inhalation route.
7. Demonstrate basic airway management techniques.
8. Demonstrate skills necessary to splint/immobilize all types of soft tissue and musculoskeletal injuries.
9. Recognize normal and abnormal cardiac rhythms.
