At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1.   Apply principles and elements of design and color using flowers and foliages.
2.   Assemble intermediately complex floral arrangements with appropriate speed and precision according to structural design principles.
3.   Create floral arrangements using "line arrangement" principles.
4.   Compare and contrast foliage types and kinds and their uses.
5.   Describe the uses for and ways of wearing body flowers.
6.   Create a corsage.
7.   Design a tall, stylized arrangement using gladiolas and other flowers.
8.   Create hand and presentation bouquets using simple flowers.
9.   Wire flowers for a variety of uses.
10. Based on subsequent repeats:

1.   Arrange a mixed flower triangular one-sided floral design.
2.   Arrange an "L-shaped" and a crescent floral design.
3.   Create and design an inverted "T" line arrangement, utilizing negative space.
4.   Design an arrangement using only foliage (include at least 6 kinds of foliage).
5.   Design and construct a tall vase arrangement using a tall vase, greens for the pack to work in (no foam); create an easy flowing round shape arrangement using the length of the flowers.
6.   Design and construct one corsage: a baby rose and mini carnation wristlet, using a wristlet holder.
7.   Construct a tall, stylized arrangement using a tall container to achieve an elegant look, using gladiolas and other flowers.
8.   Arrange a hand held bouquet using daisies and mini carnations, baby's breath, and various greens with a little leather fern.
9.   Choose a category and complete arrangement to enter in Harvest Fair floral or other similar competition.
10. Midterm: Choose the arrangement that presented the most challenge during the course and create that arrangement as a midterm project.
11. Final project: In class, create an arrangement entirely of foliage, demonstrating use of a variety of textures.  Present to class.
12. Portfolio: Assemble photos of weekly design projects with accompanying journal entries listing materials and describing methods for each project.
13. Reading, 5-10 pages per week.
14. Repeating students are expected to improve skills, enhance designs, and produce projects with increased speed.
