At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

2. Maintain and repair archery equipment

3. Demonstrate proper archery form and technique

4. Perform effectively in competition

5. Shoot accurately at various distances

6. Demonstrate aiming devices

Topics and Scope

I.    Use and maintenance of archery equipment

     A. Arrow

     B. Bow (including restringing)

II.   Review of safety measures

III.  Aiming Devices

IV.   Shooting strategies for various distances

V.    Shooting Sequence - 9 steps to the "Ten-Ring" (center of the target)

VI.   Competition

     A. Olympic distances

     B. Olympic scoring

Assignments:

Representative Assignments:

In class -

1.  Perform bow and arrow maintenance and repair procedures

2.  Practice and perform shooting techniques

3.  Competitions

4.  Written test on archery principles and competition rules

Outside class for approximately one hour per week -

1.  Read class hand-outs

2.  Practice proper form and shooting sequence in front of a mirror

3.  Visualize the 9 steps to the "Ten Ring" then practice the 9 steps

   until they become routine
