Advanced sculpture with emphasis on personal work related to past two semesters.  Problems of the professional sculptor related to architectural presentation, use of industrial layout and pattern making techniques and model making.  An introduction to inert gas welding for ferris and nonferrous metals.  Environmental installations and related events.

COURSE CONTENT

Outcomes and Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

1.  Explore form ideas towards goal of site proposal or exhibition.
2.  Create a series of models developing one idea through several per-
   mutations.
3.  Present a proposal for site work or exhibition.
4.  Practice aesthetic criticism and analysis of form by participating
   in class critiques of work.
5.  Demonstrate a working vocabulary of terms of the professional sculptor

Topics and Scope

1.  Investigate sculptural and social nature of site specific sculpture.
2.  Produce a series of work related to one site proposal.
3.  Analyze the influence of the site on the sculpture.
4.  Test models in various scales to determine best relationship to site.
5.  Execute a model and layout plan satisfying all possible questions
   on impact of sculpture on site.

Assignments:

Various form building exercises which explore the principles of sculptural
proposals including:
1.  Create a series of work intended for a specific site.
2.  Construct one sculpture in a variety of scales.
3.  Design a site plan and impact report.
4.  Formulate a proposal including scale model, impact report and cost
   estimate.
