The students will:
1. Describe the role and functions of the Psychiatric Technician
and other members of the health care team.
2. Apply theoretical concepts of human anatomy and physiology to
planning and implementing patient care with a focus on common
medical-surgical conditions.
3. State the major, significant signs that distinguish a physically
healthy person from a physically ill person.
4. Describe spiritual and nutritional needs of patients.
5. Describe principles relevant to patient documentation.
6. Describe frequently ordered diagnostic tests including physical
and emotional preparation of the patient.
7. Develop a written treatment plan.
8. Describe treatment modalities and basic nuring skills commonly
prescribed for medical-surgical patients.
9. Describe specific musculoskeletal procedures that promote
function and prevent injuries in the patient with physical
limitations.
10. Recognize abnormal laboratory values for commonly ordered tests.
11. Describe the therapeutic and adverse effects of the drugs commonly
used in medical-surgical conditions.
12. Describe special needs of the gerontological patients.
13. State the legal rights of patients.
14. Recognize stressors affecting his/her personal and professional
