COURSE CONTENT

Outcomes and Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1.  Explore contemporary sculpture for scale and complexity.
2.  Use a variety of methods, materials, and tools to create sculpture.
3.  Develop and increase a working vocabulary of materials and processes
   of sculpture.
4.  Employ creative thinking skills and exercise decision making skills.
5.  Develop visual perception skills to recognize form, material, and
   method.
6.  Practice aesthetic criticism and analysis through participation in
   class critiques.

Topics and Scope

1.  Create a series of work demonstrating proficiency in both material
   and method.
2.  Explore how both material and process influence form.
3.  Analyze one masterpiece structural organization.
4.  Explore texture in historical work and include it as a priority in
   a project.

Assignments:

Various form building exercises which explore the principles of sculptural
methods and materials including:
1.  Series of form permutation using several materials and processes.
2.  One form realized in many media.
3.  Masterpiece study illustrating volume, plane line, or texture.
4.  Large scale work with a textural priority.
