Students are expected to have 25-30 high-quality photos to work with during the course.

Outcomes and Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Analytically examine and select photos for portfolio inclusion based on
content, print quality, type of presentation, and achievement of goals.
2. Demonstrate the ability to edit a body of photographs into a cohesive
body of work.
3. Discuss the challenges inherent in organizing and editing photos for an
exhibition.
4. Produce archival mats using archival matting material.
5. Select appropriate presentation modes, depending on the exhibition
venue.
6. Document the portfolio with slides and/or other forms of photographic
documentation.
7. Prepare an artist's statement and a brief biography to accompany the
portfolio.
8. Describe the components of a press release.
9. With repeat:
a. Put together portfolios for different applications, e.g. fine
art, portrait, transfer, job.
b. Prepare artist statement and biography to accompany different

1. Write an artist statement and a short biography.
2. Lab: make archival mats and mat photographs; document the portfolio
with slides or by another method.
3. Participate in 1-2 exhibits of student work.
4. Field trip: photo exhibit in a museum or gallery.
5. Compile a portfolio of 10-15 pieces of original photography.
6. With repeat:
