COURSE CONTENT

Outcomes and Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

The Student Will:
1. Develop a knowledge of the history and regulations of selected spring
  sports.
2. Demonstrate the basic skills necessary to properly officiate selected
  sports.
3. Develop the expertise necessary to effectively and accurately
  officiate selected sports.

Topics and Scope

The Following Spring Sports will be covered: Softball, Track and Field,
Basketball, Swimming, Golf and Tennis.
1. Teach the evolution of the historical development of the rules of
  certain selected sports.
2. Present an accurate and current description of all rules, and rule
  interpretation (i.e. levels of competition: interscholastic vs
  collegiate; recreational vs varsity, etc.)
3.Instruct the correct techniques and mechanics of officiating.
4.Provide opportunities for practical experience in the officiating
 field.
5.Develop and maintain a venue for direct teacher/student communication
 for evaluation of practical officiating experience.
