Clinical practice in patient management and chairside assisting dental students at the University of California, San Francisco, School of Dentistry and the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry.  Practice in working as part of a complete dental team in private practice general practice dentistry offices in Sonoma County.  Continuation of the develop- ment of skills in radiography in the classroom.

COURSE CONTENT

Outcomes and Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

1.  Demonstrate the ability to work as a member of the dental health team
   in patient care facilities.
2.  Perform, as a chairside dental assistant in a general dentistry
   practice, necessary duties in a manner which is satisfactory to the
   supervising dentist.
3.  Perform all assigned sterilization and laboratory duties in a satis-
   factory manner.
4.  Write a narrative essay comparing experiences in various clinical
   settings.
5.  Perform a minimum of two coronal polish procedures under the supervi-
   sion of the assigned dentist.
6.  Submit a report describing one new procedure and one new material.
7.  Demonstrate an acceptable level of skill in performing RDA examination
   tasks.
8.  Maintain records documenting clinical performance.
