The International Office Assistant Skills Certificate prepares the student to seek employment as clerical support staff in companies that do business internationally, or who work with customers or clients who are foreign born. Foreign born customers and clients may be accustomed to different business practices. This program provides students with an understanding of these differences and how they affect a company's business.

Students desiring more advanced skills may wish to pursue the Administrative Assistant Certificate of Achievement. Completion of the International Office Assistant Skills Certificate fulfills a portion of of the Administrative Assistant Certificate of Achievement.

This program is taught completely online and the students not only learn about business practices in various countries, but also have an opportunity to communicate electronically with professionals in other countries. Students in this certificate program will also receive training in 21st Century workforce skills emphasizing communication, teamwork, project management, problem-solving, and systems development.

International Office Assistant positions are not terminal occupations. Individuals employed in this type of work will be presented with opportunities to move up the corporate ladder upon receiving additional work experience, training and/or education. Having a background in globalization issues and acquiring technical and soft skills demanded of businesses today will prove to be invaluable attributes as individuals continue along their career paths.

It is important that students who are completing an Associate Degree and desire to transfer to a four-year institution meet with a counselor to plan their lower division coursework.
