Description:
The Residential Architecture Skills Certificate introduces students to the world of architecture and prepares them with knowledge and basic skills that enable them to function effectively in the architecture field. The program includes an overview of the architectural design process and the construction industry, a focus on a variety of design topics, the production of residential working drawings using AutoCAD, architectural perspective drawing, elements of an architectural project, and development of construction-related writing and graphic representation skills.
Students who complete the Residential Architecture Skills Certificate can expect to find employment in an architect's office:
- performing fundamental drafting jobs
- preparing documents for reproduction
- reproducing original drawings
- communicating with members of the office team
- delivering documents to project consultants and the building department
Or related industry employment such as:
- document reproduction bureaus
- sales of construction materials
- performing fundamental drafting jobs for others
