Description:
The Web Graphic Production Skills Certificate is designed to provide students with the skills needed to succeed in the field of Web site design and development. Web Graphic Production graduates are responsible for processing the majority of graphics found at a Website. Possible job titles include: Web Graphic Production Assistant, Web Production Artist, Art Production, Web Design Assistant and Web Graphic Artist Assistant. The training stresses usage of the Web as a platform to deliver solutions to business problems. Students will gain an understanding of the relevant Web technologies, the most common software and hardware products, the resources necessary to support a site, and the requirements of site maintenance. The curriculum includes basic production techniques, HTML, PhotoShop, Illustrator, and the design process.
This program stresses the practical application of Web development skills on real life projects. Students are expected to work in teams to create Web sites for non-profit organizations in Sonoma County. The ability to work in a group, communicate with a client, resolve problems, meet deadlines, and understand the Web development cycle are just as important as understanding HTML or creating graphics. This hands-on approach ensures that as students complete the program, they will have practical experience, as well as working Web sites to feature in an electronic portfolio.
The Internet has become a powerful force in the Bay Area and national economy. The selection of Web-related jobs has grown with the demand. There are many different Web specialties, and most companies plan to expand their Web operations further.
