Description:
The Dance: Jazz Skills Certificate will give the student dancer an opportunity to present validation of his or her time, effort, and talent in dance. The certificate encompasses teaching, performing, and the choice of a dance style.
Jazz dance style is always changing. The technique used in jazz classes can take on many attitudes depending on instructor and style influence. Some of the major jazz styles today are lyrical jazz, musical theatre, west coast jazz, modern jazz, jazz funk, and Latin jazz. Jazz dance is appealing because of its energy and variety. It can reflect and inspire a variety of moods. The various jazz dances have been characterized by the use of improvisation and influenced by rhythms and techniques of jazz music.
The student who receives the Jazz Competency Certificate will have a better opportunity to obtain employment at dance studios and recreational classes, or work as a choreographer with community or school plays.
