Description:
The Dance: Hip Hop/Funk Skills Certificate will give the student dancer an opportunity to present validation of his or her time, effort, and talent in dance. The certificate encompasses teaching, performing, and the choice of a dance style.
Hip Hop/Funk dance has evolved from the hip-hop culture and is a form of street dance. Hip Hop culture includes deejaying [cuttin' & scratchin'], emceeing/rappin', breakdancing, and graffiti art. The movements use isolations, popping and breaking. Hip Hop is highly energetic and allows the dancer to improvise and perform with freedom of movement.
The student who receives the Hip-Hop Skills Certificate will have a better opportunity to obtain employment at dance studios and recreational classes, or work as a choreographer with community or school plays.
More information about the Dance program can be found at the Dance page on the Athletics Department website.
