Description:
The Architecture and Construction Technology Certificate of Achievement prepares students with a full range of technical and administrative skills to be qualified for employment in the construction industry. Employment opportunities are available in both the public and private sectors of the construction industry.
Typically, program graduates find work with: - construction contractors - using their skills calculating material quantities, estimating costs, scheduling projects, managing projects or acting as job superintendent
- architects and engineers - using both manual and CAD drafting skills and building materials knowledge in design and documentation of projects
- material manufacturers and suppliers - using construction knowledge in sales or production positions
- public agencies - providing plan checking and building inspection related services
In addition, some graduates form construction firms of their own.
Employment opportunities depend on building and housing starts. Residential building permits and the value of nonresidential construction are expected to increase. Competition will be agressive for entry-level jobs.
