Description:
The Vocational Nursing to Nursing (ADN) major has been approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, and prepares the student for entry into the practice of professional registered nursing. Students receive clinical experiences in a variety of clinical facilities and community agencies throughout Sonoma County.
This program has been designed to provide an opportunity for the Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to complete the requirements for an Associate of Science Degree in Nursing (ADN) and be eligible to take the NCLEX-RN, the professional licensing examination to become a registered nurse, in less time than required to complete the generic ADN program.
It is strongly advised that all applicants attend a Counseling Pre-nursing Information Meeting and consult with a health sciences counselor prior to beginning the program prerequisites.
Click here for more information about the program, or contact the Health Sciences Department.
Licensure Note: The California Board of Registered Nursing may deny licensure to anyone who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor. It is the responsibility of the student to present sufficient evidence of rehabilitation prior to licensure. Contact the Health Sciences Department for more information.

It is important that students who are completing an Associate Degree and desire to transfer to a four-year institution meet with a counselor to plan their lower division coursework. While many majors at SRJC are intended to align with lower division major preparation required by California public universities, specific lower-division major requirements vary among individual campuses. See a counselor, visit the Transfer Center, and check Guides For Transfer in Specific Majors, and ASSIST to review transfer preparation guides for specific schools and majors.
