COURSE CONTENT
Outcomes and Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

The students will:
1. Identify responsibility and authority for fire prevention
inspections and related activities.
2. Identify the physical properties of flammable and combustible
solids, liquids, and gases relative to basic fire prevention
inspection practices.
3. Provide basic information on specific fire hazards of flammable
and combustible solids, liquids, and gases.
4. Provide information relative to fire prevention concerning
radioactive, explosive, and unstable materials.
5. Provide and opportunity to identify hazardous materials
typically found during basic fire inspections, by using the
Department of Transportation labels and placarding systems.
6. Identify principles of operation and inspection practices for
fixed fire protection systems (other than sprinkler systems).
7. Identify principles of placement, operation, and inspection of
portable fire extinguishers.
8. Review the basic principles determining fire cause and origin
and their relationship to fire prevention, control, and
inspection practices.
