At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:
1. Identify fabrics and notions suitable for men's pants.
2. Analyze various construction techniques and apply ones suitable for different styles and fabrics.
3. Construct a pair of men's pants.
4. Create pattern alterations necessary for custom-fitted pants.
5. Based on subsequent repeats, students will be able to apply techniques to:
a. increasingly complex applications
b. increasingly complex patterns
c. fabric manipulation with a variety of fabric textures
d. increasingly complex fitting issues and adjustments
e. gain confidence and speed

2. Fabrics suitable for men's dress slacks and casual pants.
3. Construction techniques.
4. Seams and seam finishes.
5. Pressing techniques.
6. Fly-front zipper and fly shield extension.
7. Back welt pockets.
8. Side front pockets.
9. Crotch shield.
10. Styles of front pockets suitable for casual pants.
11. Applying the curtained waist band.
12. Cuffs and hems.
13. Other fabrics and notions necessary for making men's pants.
Assignments:

2. Assemble a notebook of samples of construction problems and techniques, and other related assignments unique to men's pants.
3. One or two tests and final exam.
4. Read from text 10 to 15 pages each week.
