Using Adobe Illustrator to produce web graphics. This course explores the creation of PDF, GIF, JPEG, and Flash files. Topics include working with web safe colors, pixel support in Illustrator, creating image maps, using the Save for Web menu and transforming blends into animations.

Course Completion of CS 71.11B ( or CIS 73.35B or CIS 73.36 or CIS 83.14B) and Course Completion of CS 50.11A ( or CIS 58.51A or CIS 84.42A)

COURSE CONTENT

Outcomes and Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

Students will be able to:
1.  Analyze graphic images and evaluate how they would display in the
   PDF, GIF, JPEG, PNG, Flash and SVG graphic file formats
2.  Create graphics using web safe colors
3.  Analyze a Web navigational problem, and solve it using an  image
   map designed in Illustrator
4.  Create graphics using Illustrator support for pixels
5.  Analyze the appropriate techniques which should be employed to
   Export Illustrator graphics to Web and PDF formats
6.  Correlate the relationship between a Flash animation and an
   Illustrator blend
7.  Incorporate Illustrator styles into Web site navigation while
   applying user-interface theory
8.  Compare and Contrast the functionality of using Illustrator vs
   Photoshop, ImageReady, or Fireworks when creating Web Graphics

Assignments:
