In this course, students will engage in an advanced and focused study of art or art history, tailored to their individual interests and circumstances, or in areas not addressed by other courses within the curriculum. This course comprises seminars or individual conferences arranged to facilitate independent study and to provide an enhanced academic experience. Participants will collaborate with a faculty supervisor who has agreed to oversee their project. Please note that credit is determined by the University of California (UC) after transfer and does not count towards admission. Enrollment is contingent upon the approval of the project proposal by the supervising faculty member, the Department Chair, and the Supervising Administrator.

Since the purpose of the course is to afford the student an opportunity to engage in intensive study of a particular topic not covered in depth in other Art or Art History courses, the objectives will vary according to the project proposal.

Topics and Scope

This is an independent project or paper. Contents will vary with the student, but generally would capitalize on a student's special interest and abilities.

2. Reading and writing assignments, such as: research papers, critical analysis papers, and/or reaction/reflection essays.
