At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

2.  Become familar with how information is presented on the Web.
3.  Become proficient using Netscape to search and record research
4.  Explore downloading of image, text and html
5.  Develop understanding for clear presentation of image and text
6.  Develop a critical basis for judging the success of Web pages
7.  Examine Web pages for successful image and text presentation methods

Topics and Scope

1.  Introduce a brief historical background to the World Wide Web
2.  Perform projects which will teach information search for art
3.  record investigative searches using Bookmarks
4.  Consider the design elements which make for good Web pages
5.  Practice the process of recycling visual elements for Web pages
6.  Scan images for use on the Web and explore ways to manipulate them

Assignments:

1.  Obtain a SLIP/PPP account on nermal or other internet provider
2.  Learn the basics of Netscape using online help and class discussions
3.  Search and collect Bookmarks for interesting sites using images
4.  Share investigations with the class and justify your research
5.  Use the programming template to create your own Web page
6.  Scan and manipulate images for your Web page
7.  Create relevant links for your Web page
8.  Participate in class discussions online
