Outcomes and Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

Upon successful completion of this course the student will be able to:
1. Develop an exam study plan and organize study materials.
2. Prepare to take the California Veterinary Technician Licensing
  Examination.
3. Complete a mock state board exam with a passing grade (70% or higher).  

Topics and Scope

The exact content and progression of the course is variable and is
determined by the review needs and desires of the students enrolled.
Pertinent topics are reviewed through lecture, group discussion and self-
study. As determined by the California Veterinary Technician Examination
Committee, the scope of the course may include but is not limited to any
or all of the following subject areas:
I.   Animal Nursing
II.  Laboratory Procedures
III. Anesthesia
IV.  Emergency Procedures
V.   Diagnostic Imaging
VI.  Surgical Assistance
VII. Pharmacy and Pharmacology
VIII. Patient Examinations
IX.  Dentistry
X.   Client Communications
XI.  Nutrition
XII. Animal Behavior
In addition, these topics will be addressed:
XIII. Developing a Study Plan
XIV. Organizing Study Materials
XV.  Test Question Analysis Strategies  

Assignments:

1. Reading from text and handouts: 20- 40 pages per week.
2. Answer study questions from text (approx. 20 per week) and/or weekly
quizzes.
3. Topical research assignments (2-3) and 2-3 page summary for each.
4. Final mock state board exam. Student must achieve a score of 70% or
higher to pass the course.

Writing: Assessment tools that demonstrate writing skill and/or require students to select, organize and explain ideas in writing.Writing
